1998
The Quartet forms at the Jerusalem Academy Middle School for Music and Dance in Jerusalem/Israel. "We used to study for school exams together, but since math didn't go as well we decided to skip school as much as possible and rehearse..."
2003
The Quartet wins the First Prize at the “Franz Schubert and Modern Music” competition in Graz, Austria. "Since we were very young and didn't expect to win anything, we arrived to the official winner's announcement ceremony practically in pajamas!"
2003
The Quartet is invited to be part of the initial Perlman Music Program chamber music workshop. "The Shelter Island, NY, campus of the Perlman Music Program has quickly evolved into a second home for the Quartet, in which we spent most summers."
2004
The Quartet moves to Boston, MA, where the members earn their BM and MM degrees at the New England Conservatory of Music (NEC). They become the resident ensemble of the distinguished Professional String Quartet Training Program led by Cleveland Quartet member Paul Katz from 2008-2010.
2006
The quartet wins the Grand Prize and the Gold Medal at the 2006 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition.
2007
The quartet is awarded the Székely Prize for their performance of Bela Bartók's string quartet No. 4, as well as the overall Third Prize at the Banff International String Quartet Competition. The American Record Guide refers to the quartet as “a consummate ensemble gifted with utter musicality and remarkable interpretive power” and specifically designates their performance of Beethoven's Op. 132 as “the pinnacle of the competition.”
2010
The Quartet heads to Basel, Switzerland, for a year of intensive study with Walter Levin of the LaSalle Quartet.
2012
The Quartet is named Official Quartet-in-Residence at the renowned College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati (CCM), following tenures by the legendary LaSalle and Tokyo Quartets. "We love Cincinnati and are big Reds fans, if more so for the Friday post-game fireworks." Update: The Quartet is granted tenure at CCM in 2021.
2013
The Quartet receives the prestigious Cleveland Quartet Award, which results in a concert tour that retraces the last concerts of the legendary Cleveland Quartet.
2014
The 2013-14 season not only includes an exceedingly successful tour with superstar cellist Alisa Weilerstein as well as continued collaboration with the legendary Menahem Pressler, but also the fulfillment of a long time dream: the first (and simultaneously second) Beethoven Cycle! 2015
AQ becomes the first string quartet to perform the entire Beethoven cycle before its members reach the age of 30. The cycle takes place in NYC’s SubCulture, including a midnight performance of the Große Fuge.
2016
Beethoven wrote some of the most transcendent music ever written, and AQ deepens their relationship with the scores by performing additional cycles at venues such as Napa’s Music in the Vineyards.
2017
AQ records their debut CD for Avie Records with Grammy Award winning engineer and producer Judith Sherman, featuring the Brahms Quartet No. 2 and the Bartók Quartet No. 1. During an extended residency at the stunning Tippet Rise Art Center in Montana, some drone footage magically materializes…
2018
Dedicated to commissioning new music for the String Quartet, AQ performs the premiere of Pulitzer Prize-winner John Harbison’s Quartet No. 6 at the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music. Since then a total of five commissions have been completed for the quartet.
2019
The Quartet and Daniil Trifonov give the U.S. premiere of Mr. Trifonov's Piano Quintet at Jamie Laredo and Sharon Robinson's Linton Chamber Music Series in Cincinnati.
